GUARANTY TRUST BANK GHANA LAUNCHES ‘TAP & PAY’ VISA CONTACTLESS CARDS
Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited (GTBank), as part of its enduring digitization drive, has launched Visa contactless cards to the Ghanaian market.
Contactless cards are embedded with next generation technology to enable cardholders make payments just by tapping their cards at enabled Point of Sale (POS) devices and other payment accepting terminals.
The introduction of the Visa contactless cards is in line with the Bank’s bold digital and e-banking strategy to drive the use of electronic payment channels as the preferred mode of transactions in Ghana.
Announcing the launch of the cards, Leopold Armah, Divisional Head for Digital Banking and Alliances at GTBank said “The introduction of the Visa contactless cards is in line with our bold digital and e-banking agenda to simplify the lives of our customers through the introduction of innovative products and services. Contactless cards provide customers with the most convenient and secure way to make payments at supermarkets, malls, restaurants, hotels, fuel stations among others and we are delighted to partner with Visa to roll out these cards”
He continued” To ensure a seamless process, we are also rolling out POS terminals designed to accept all payment modes including contactless cards and mobile money wallet payments. Together, these solutions will truly liberate our customers to transact without limitations”.
With the contactless cards, cardholders are not required to enter their PIN for low value transactions. However to provide additional security, high value transactions will require cardholders’ PIN to authenticate.
“All customers who pick up the new contactless card automatically receive 50 points to get them off to winning big in the ongoing GTBank Visa Akyedie promo running from now till December 16th2019.
