Press Release

July, 2019

  • GTBank Partners Meridian Ports Services (MPS) for collection of port fees

Meridian Port Services ((MPS) has partnered with Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited to deploy the Bank’s robust and convenient digital payments and collections channels to augment seamless payment for services rendered at the newly opened Terminal 3.

The channels deployed are mobile USSD service Bank *737#, payments collection platform Myghpay and the Internet Banking platform for customers of the Bank. Customers also have the option of visiting any GTBank branch nationwide to make payment via the GTCollect platform

The modalities for each of the channels are as follows;

Bank *737# Payments

Agents can dial the mobile USSD long code *737*628#, input the draft ID (invoice) number and make payments anywhere, anytime via their GTBank account or Mobile Money wallet.

Internet Banking

This is for importers and agents who have GTBank accounts. Log in to the Internet Banking platform, input draft ID (invoice) number and transfer the fees directly into MPS account.

In branch services – customers can also walk into any of the Bank’s 33 branches nationwide, provide their draft ID (invoice) to make payment via the GTCollect platform.

In all the instances described above, the customer would receive a confirmation code or electronically generated receipt to be presented at the MPS for processing.

Commenting on the partnership with Meridian Port Services (MPS), Managing Director of Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited, Mr. Thomas Attah John, “This is another partnership that we are very enthused about. We acknowledge how cumbersome paying charges at the port can be sometimes and so it is exciting that we have the wherewithal – electronic channels- to ensure that the payment process is stress-free and convenient for importers and clearing agents.”

Meridian Port Services (MPS) is a joint venture between Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority and Meridian Port Holdings Limited, and is widely recognized by all shipping lines as the best performing container port in West and Central Africa. In April 2017, MPS was adjudged the Terminal Operator of the year in the maiden Ghana Maritime and Shipping Awards held in Accra.
