Smart Savings Tips

Congratulations, since you are here, it means you want to learn more about the basics of saving money!

Most of us wish we could save more money, but how do we do it, and how do we get started?

  • The best thing to do is to make a saving plan. Decide how much you're willing to put aside every month and then do it.(what percentage of your pocket money are you willing to put aside)
  • The next step is to start putting money in your account- start with whatever you have.

All about allowances

The main reason for giving pocket money is to help children learn to manage money while they can be guided by elders. The age at which you start getting pocket money depends on how comfortable your parents are about you handling money.

How much pocket money?

There is no special formula and how much will depend on a number of things e.g what your parents can afford.

The amount of pocket money you receive may increase as you get older and take more personal responsibility.

Keep a budget

A great way to help save money is to create a budget, and then stick to it. Even by just tracking where the money is going, you will be more aware of your spending habits, and eliminate unnecessary spending. A budget is only a financial exercise; it helps people decide what they can afford to buy now, what they may be able to afford to buy in the future, and how much they can save. It's a way of making sure you have enough money on hand for what's really important.
