Guaranty Trust Bank Plc is the parent company of Guaranty Trust Bank ( Ghana) Limited. It started its operations in the 1991. The bank at the time had only one branch bank on Adeyemo Alakija Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Now, the bank operates from 120 locations in Nigeria with subsidiaries in Gambia, Ghana and Sierra Leone.

On the 12 th of March 2008, GTBank became the first Nigerian bank of its generation to start operations as a commercial bank in the UK.

In Ghana, Guaranty Trust Bank ( Ghana) Limited was launched on the 13 th of March 2006. Guaranty Trust Bank ( Ghana) Limited began operations from its Head Office at the high-class Ambassadorial Area of Ridge, in the business district of Accra. The Bank also recently opened its branches at Airport Residential Area, Accra and Community One, Tema. We will soon be operating in its Osu and Kumasi branches with plans to expand to Takoradi, Spintex Road, Graphic Road, among others, before the end of the year.

Guaranty Trust Bank Plc owns 70% of the Bank’s shares with Alhaji Yusif Ibrahim, a Ghanaian business entrepreneur, holding 15% and Nederlandse Financierings-Maatschappij Ontwikkelingslanded N.V. (FMO) holding the remaining 15%.
