Guaranty Trust Bank once again proved its superiority in the financial services industry by defending its 2009 award when it won the prestigious and highly coveted Bank of the Year Award, 2010 and other major awards at the Ghana Banking Awards ceremony held at the plush Movenpick Ambassador Hotel over the weekend. These category awards include Best Bank - IT and Electronic Banking, Best Corporate Bank and Best Bank – Product innovation. The rest are 1st Runner Up in Customer Care, Advisory Service & Competitive Pricing categories and 2nd Runner Up - Retail Banking category. He further stated that to win this prestigious award for two consecutive times within five years of operations in Ghana is considered as a "a highly appreciated vote of confidence, as we see our customers as long-term partners that determine our stay in business and justify our continuous efforts to raise the quality and standard of service in the industry." “The awards are dedicated to our cherished customers for their continuous loyalty and patronage of our services” he added. Prior to this award, Guaranty Trust Bank's tradition of excellent customer service has been widely endorsed by creditable rating agencies and organizations over the years. Most recently, the Bank was adjudged the Most Market Responsive Global Trade Finance Program (GTFP) Issuing Bank in Africa by the International Finance Corporation (IFC). Also the Bank was adjudged the overall Best Bank in Nigeria in 2010 by the internationally respected Euromoney Awards. Its subsidiaries in The Gambia, Sierra Leone, Liberia and the United Kingdom have all recorded remarkable feats within the same year”. The Bank which started operations in 2006 with only one branch in Accra has now grown its visibility and presence through a combination of strategic branch expansion programme, the delivery of superior customer service and the practice of best corporate governance and good corporate social responsibility programmes. Currently, GTBank employs over 525 people and has, within the past five years, helped in a number of good causes such as in the care of orphans with HIV, the refurbishment of the Ridge Hospital Maternity unit, treatment of children with heart diseases and the education of underprivileged children among other endeavours.
