It’s a hat trick for GTBank!!!

“Technology Advanced Bank of the Year” for the 3rd year; “E-Banking Service of the Year” for the 2nd time

Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited’s superiority in electronic banking has been cemented after the bank was named “Technology Advanced Bank of the Year” for the third consecutive year at the just ended Ghana Information Technology and Telecoms Awards 2016 in Accra.

For the second time running, GTBank, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, was also adjudged “E-Banking Service of the Year 2016” in recognition of the bank’s convenient and reliable electronic banking solutions during the same ceremony.

In the “Technology Advanced Bank of the Year 2016” category, GTBank emerged winner amongst a list of five nominated banks that included Zenith Bank, Stanbic Bank, Fidelity Bank, and Ecobank. The nominees for the “E-Banking Service of the Year 2016” category included uniBank, GCB Bank, Stanbic Bank, and Barclays Bank.

It would be recalled that in 2014, GTBank was adjudged “Technology Advanced Bank of the Year”. This award was won again in 2015, while the bank was also named as the “E-Banking Service of the Year” in the same year, during the Ghana Telecoms Awards ceremony.

The Managing Director of Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited, Mr. Lekan Sanusi, who led a delegation from the bank to receive the awards, commented that it was refreshing to know that the Bank’s leadership in the area of electronic banking solutions and its commitment to continually deliver unrivalled IT channels for the convenience of customers had once again been recognized.

“At Guaranty Trust Bank, innovation means persistently looking for ways to deliver convenient services for our customers through technology. So, we invest a lot in this area and always challenge ourselves to develop cutting edge e-banking solutions to meet the everyday banking demands of our customers”, he explained.

Mr. Sanusi further stated: “It means a lot to us for GTBank to score a hat trick, because this comes as an added endorsement of our superiority in the arena of e-banking. The awards are dedicated to the entire GTBank team, particularly those in the IT group of the bank.”

Group Head of Technology, Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited, Mr. Leopold Armah, also stated: “This recognition will definitely spur us on to even deliver more, especially in the area of using technology to make our products and services further accessible to our customers wherever they might find themselves”.

Since its inception in 2006, Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited has deployed a robust IT platform to deliver a plethora of reliable and efficient electronic banking solutions for its customers and in some cases non-customers alike.

Recent amongst such deployment is its Bank *737# service, which is set to make banking easily accessible and simple for every Ghanaian. Last week, the bank launched an upgraded version of the service, which now includes more features that cater for most banking needs of customers without them having to visit any of the bank’s branches.

By dialling the short code *737#, existing customers of the bank, apart from buying phone credits for themselves (and for family and friends), checking account balances, transferring funds between their accounts and PIN change, can now pay utility bills - Surfline, DStv, Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) – postpaid bills and Ghana Water Company Limited.

The reloaded *737# service enables customers to make enquiries, such as branch and ATM location, making transfers to any GTBank account, and transfers onto pre-paid cards and mobile money wallets. Customers can change or reset PINs and activate the *737# service, i.e. for those who are yet to do so.

Non-customers of GTBank who wish to open an account with the bank, can initiate the account opening process by simply dialling *737# on their phones, wherever they might be.

GTBank, in its 10 years of operations in Ghana, has established its leadership in the area of electronic banking services. Apart from these awards, the bank was adjudged Bank of the Year in 2009 and 2010. It has also won several key category awards over the years, including Best Mobile Bank and Best Bank - IT/Electronic Banking. I has also been named as the “Most Customer-focused Bank in Ghana” in a KPMG customer satisfaction survey report.
