Demola started his working life as a lecturer in Social Research at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife Nigeria, in 1990. He joined the Lagos Office of Arthur Andersen in 1992 and rose to the level of Senior Consultant in 1996. In 1997, he joined Guaranty Trust Bank Plc and was assigned the responsibility of running the Financial Control Department.
He moved to First City Monument Bank in 2000 where he was responsible for the Financial Control and Strategy of the Bank. In 2002, he was appointed the Chief Operating Officer for four of the companies in FCMB Capital Markets Group. He also had a short stint at Platinum Bank as Vice President and Group Head, Performance Management Group before returning to Guaranty Trust Bank Plc in October, 2003.
On returning to Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, Demola was seconded to the Budget Office of the Federation, Federal Ministry of Finance, Abuja, where he had responsibility for developing and implementing recurrent expenditure strategy for the Federal Government of Nigeria. He also played a crucial role in developing and implementing the reform initiatives of the Federal Government of Nigeria especially in the area of Budgeting and Public Expenditure Control and Management. He was however recalled to oversee Guaranty Trust Bank Plc’s Corporate Planning, Strategy, Financial Control and Group Coordination groups.
Demola’s experience covers Consulting, Auditing, Capital Markets, Public Sector and Academics. He holds a First Class Honours degree from Obafemi Awolowo University and a Master’s Degree, (which he finished with a distinction average), from the same university. He is a Chartered Accountant, Chartered Stockbroker and also a Chartered member of the Institute of Taxation in Nigeria.
